John Blesse has been appointed vice president of operations for New Jersey-based Riondo USA. Blesse will lead Riondo’s internal operation and oversee existing and developing sales relationships with suppliers and on- and off-premise chains.
Blesse joined Riondo USA in 2005 as national sales manager. Since then the brand has grown from 37,000 to nearly 400,000 cases per year. “The driving force behind our success has been our commitment to high-quality wines at lower price points,” says Blesse.
The Riondo brand has been applauded by media and buyers for its high-scoring Prosecco Spago Nero, at under $15, and Amarone, which sells for under $30.
Riondo USA has received Impact Magazine’s Hot Prospect Award two years in a row, and the Hot Brand Award for 2012. NBC’s Today Show, ABC’s Good Morning America and CNN have featured Riondo’s wines. The brand has appeared in the Wall Street Journal’s Speak Easy, on Gary Vaynerchuk’s Wine Library TV, and in other major media.
