Tonnellerie Mercier has announced the appointment of Tim Olson as its exclusive California agent for barrel and tank sales. International sales manager Yann Bordier said, “We are excited to have someone with such a great background of experience in barrel sales, marketing and winemaking that Mr. Olson brings to the team.”
Olson’s background includes 26 years of winemaking experience as well as four years in cooperage sales and marketing. He is currently a partner in Olson Ogden Wines, a small winery located in Santa Rosa, California.
Olson will be responsible for all sales and marketing activities for Mercier in California. He said, “I’m excited to join the Mercier team. Having just visited the stave mill and both cooperages in France, I was very impressed by the attention to detail and the focus on high quality standards. Mercier is a great example of a company that balances old world traditions with modern technological advances.”
About Tonnellerie Mercier
Tonnellerie Mercier is a small, family owned cooperage located in Barbezieux, France just outside the town of Cognac. They are one of the few small cooperages that control and source their wood from forest to mill to cooperage to barrel or tank. Mercier owns its own stave mill, a barrel cooperage and a tank cooperage, producing 35 to 40 barrels per day and 50 to 75 tanks and ovals per year. The stave mill and both cooperages just received ISO 9001 certification to go along with their existing HACCP certification.
