Jaime Araujo Appointed Vice President of International Markets at Araujo Estate Wines

Date: 02/21/13

Araujo Estate Wines, producer of distinctive wines from the iconic Eisele Vineyard in Napa Valley, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jaime Araujo as Vice President of International Markets. Ms. Araujo, the first second-generation member to join the family company, will take on the full-time management of Araujo Estate’s sales, marketing, events and promotions in all European and Asian markets in which the brand is sold. She will continue to be based in Paris, France, where she has managed Araujo Estate’s international sales and marketing on a consulting basis since early 2012.

“International markets have become a priority for us as our reputation has grown along with consumer and collector demand for our wines around the world,” says Founder and Proprietor Bart Araujo, who notes that Araujo Estate currently has a presence in fifteen international markets, primarily in Europe and Asia, and is planning further expansion.. “Jaime’s knowledge of winemaking and wine marketing, her global professional experience and her personal connection to the winery combine to make her the ideal person to fill this vital role.”

After learning about winegrowing at her family’s estate and at Joseph Phelps Vineyards in Napa Valley, Ms. Araujo studied enology in Bordeaux (DUAD), London (WSET) and California (UC Davis). She worked for Moët Hennessy in London, Austria and Paris and went on to earn an MBA from INSEAD. Passionate about marketing, she teaches regularly at INSEEC Bordeaux and has also given classes at Sciences Politiques and HEC. In 2004 she founded Terravina, a Paris-based international wine strategy consultancy that is serving clients in Europe, Asia and the United States.

“This is a dream job for me,” says Ms. Araujo. “It allows me to bring all of my background and experience to bear on ensuring Araujo Estate is firmly established with an appropriate presence in international markets. Obviously the brand is important to me on a personal level, plus, I get to work with people I know and deeply respect.”

Founded in 1990 by Bart and Daphne Araujo, Araujo Estate is a 162-acre wine property located in northern Napa Valley. Its focus is the 38-acre Biodynamic and organically-farmed Eisele Vineyard, one of the most respected Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in Napa Valley, and a winery and cave complex designed and built specifically to vinify Eisele Vineyard grapes.
