Lewis Cellars announced the appointment of Steve Nelson to the position of assistant winemaker. With a master of science degree in viticulture and enology from UC Davis, Steve brings nearly 10 years of winemaking experience to Lewis, where his strong technical knowledge and wide-ranging experience have already become great assets at the winery.
Steve comes to Lewis from Sebastiani Vineyards and Winery where he had served as assistant winemaker for three years at the historic Sonoma winery. Steve worked directly with Mark Lyon, benefiting from his 30 years of winemaking experience.
His past experience includes three vintages as harvest enologist with Joel Gott Wines and another vintage with Joseph Phelps Vineyards in Napa. In addition, Steve has had international harvest internships with Henschke Cellars in the Barossa Valley of Australia and Ceretto Fratelli in Piedmont, Italy.
When he's not at the winery, Steve enjoys time with his wife and young daughter, and sharing wine with family and friends.
Lewis Cellars is located at 4101 Big Ranch Road, Napa, California 94558 and not currently open to the public.
