MaryAnn Tsai, president of Luna Vineyards since 2001, today announced she will step down from her post to focus exclusively on building the Moone-Tsai wine brand after an 11 year tenure during which Luna Vineyards rose to national prominence. Moone-Tsai, which she co-founded four years ago with husband, Larry Tsai, and business partner, wine industry veteran Mike Moone, produces wines that have become known for their balance, complexity, structure, power and refinement.
“With harvest approaching and the upcoming release of Moone-Tsai’s fourth vintage, following the sell-out of each of the preceding three vintages, now is the ideal team for me to focus all of my energies on helping Moone-Tsai grow to the next level,” said Tsai. “It has been an exciting journey and I am looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.”
Moone-Tsai combines the talents of renowned Bordeaux-trained winemaker, Philippe Melka, with the extraordinary grapes that come from some of Napa Valley’s most coveted vineyard blocks, including the Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard, Caldwell Vineyards in the Coombsville district, Pritchard Hill, Howell Mountain and, now, the Charles Heintz Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast.
Moone-Tsai wines have received critical acclaim and are highly sought by collectors. The wines now appear on the wine lists of some of the country’s top dining establishments. The Moone-Tsai portfolio includes the flagship Cor Leonis Cabernet Sauvignon ($175), Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($80), Howell Mountain Hillside Blend ($85), Napa Valley Chardonnay ($55) and Sonoma Coast Chardonnay ($65).
Moone-Tsai wines are available through the winery’s mailing list (www.moonetsai.com) and by private tasting appointments. Moone-Tsai is located at 270 Kreuzer Lane, Napa, CA 94559. For more information or to schedule a tasting appointment, call (707) 265-6782 or visit www.moonetsai.com.
