Ackerman Family Vineyards Hires First General Manager

Date: 06/12/12

Ackerman Family Vineyards has announced the appointment of Lars Ryssdal as the winery’s first general manager. Effective immediately, he will manage all aspects of sales operations, distribution, market branding and day-to-day administration for the boutique Napa Valley winery.

Ryssdal brings a robust history in winery brand management, wholesale beverage and restaurant trade experience to the Ackerman team. Having recently moved from the Seattle area where he was a fixture on the Northwest wine scene for over 25 years, Ryssdal’s background as a wine educator and twice-certified sommelier brings extensive knowledge in establishing Ackerman Family Vineyards as a recognized boutique brand.

“Returning to California to work with Bob and Lauren Ackerman in the beautiful Napa Valley is a dream come true,” said Ryssdal. “Our work together will bring a clear, concise message about the Ackerman’s classic wine program and Coombsville's place in the Napa Valley to consumers and trade alike.”

Most recently, Ryssdal served as brand manager for Corliss Estates Winery in Walla Walla, WA. In addition, he has been an integral participant with the Court of Master Sommeliers and Society of Wine Educators, served on the development team of Young’s Market Certification for Beverage Professionals Program, and was a board member for the Pacific Northwest Wine Academy. Ryssdal was recently honored by the State of Washington as the state’s first “Ambassador of Wine.” Prior to pursuing his passion for wine, Ryssdal spent 10 years on the west coast in the radio and recording industries.

“Lars is a perfect fit for our growing brand as he is passionate about the industry and fully understands all aspects of building a small winery such as ours,” said owner Lauren Ackerman.

Producing handcrafted, estate wines since 1994, Ackerman Family Vineyards is a certified organic, boutique producer of premium Cabernet Sauvignon wines located within the newest Napa Valley AVA of Coombsville. Known for its cooler climates, rich, volcanic soils and hilly terrain, the Coombsville region of Napa has long produced wines with deep berry flavors, typically lower alcohols and the ability to have long staying power in the bottle when cellared.

Ackerman Family Vineyards, is located at 2101 Kirkland Road, Napa, CA 94558; 855-238-9463 (855 AFV WINE)
