Mendocino Wine Company Names Gary Glass as President

Date: 05/10/12

Mendocino Wine Company (MWC) announced the appointment of Gary Glass as President, effective May 28.

Glass, who joins MWC from Francis Ford Coppola Presents, will report directly to MWC’s CEO, Thomas Thornhill III. In his new role, he will help set both long-term strategy and execute near-term tactics to continue the rebranding and growth of the Parducci Small Lot Blend wines and other brands under the MWC umbrella. Glass will lead the company in its mission to produce quality Mendocino County wines with sustainable vineyard management and wine making practices, while mentoring top talent to maintain the business well into the future. He will also support the long-standing and ongoing Mendocino grape grower relationships that have supplied the winery for decades.

“Mendocino Wine Company is fortunate to be gaining the insight and leadership of such a broadly-experienced wine industry executive,” said Thornhill. “Gary will play an integral role in key brand development and in implementing many of the company’s critical long-term strategic initiatives, most notably the ongoing growth and distribution of our recently launched Parducci Small Lot Blend line of varietal wines.”

“The Thornhill family, the winemaking team and all the staff here at Mendocino Wine Company have made the commitment to sustainably produce Mendocino County wines of the very highest quality,” said Glass. “I share this commitment and look forward to shepherding Parducci, Paul Dolan Vineyards and the other Mendocino Wine Company brands into a new era of growth and prosperity.”

Previously, Glass served as Vice President of Brand Development and Strategic Initiatives at Francis Ford Coppola Presents including the Director’s Family, Diamond Collection, and Rosso & Bianco brands, among others. Prior to that, he was President and Co-founder of White Rocket Wine Company where he created seven new brands and managed five existing brands under Jackson Family Wines. Glass has also worked in senior marketing and product management roles at Constellation, Trinchero Family Estates, and Joseph E. Seagram and Sons.
