A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will take place August 27 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the new wine production facility, which has been undergoing improvements since Rack & Riddle's long-term lease of the building began in October.

Burgundy's Domaine Faiveley has purchased Domaine Billaud-Simon, giving the Faiveley family their first vineyards in Chablis. It was a long process, with the deal coming to fruition three years after Faiveley first contacted the Billaud family. The price for the 50-acre estate was not disclosed, but the Faiveley family is the sole investor, confirmed by president Erwan Faiveley.

Speculation on a possible sale increased Monday after Treasury Wine Estates announced that it received a revised offer of $5.20 (Australian) per share from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) & Co. and Rhône Capital. The bid represented an 11 percent increase over an earlier offer that KKR made in April, which was rejected by Treasury Wine. The Australian company said it would negotiate further and allow the New York firms to conduct non-exclusive due diligence.
