Many wineries beyond Arizona are allowed to distill this collection of byproducts, known as fruit pomace, into spirits such as brandy, cognac, cider and grappa, an Italian brandy. Adding those products to its line would be a boon to Page Springs Cellars' business, said Glomski, the winery's founder and director of winemaking.

Beckstoffer Vineyards today announced the purchase of two vineyard properties in the famed California North Coast Appellation. The larger vineyard purchase was the 190-acre Feliz Creek Vineyard, purchased from the Brutocao family in Hopland, Mendocino County. Also purchased was a 60-acre walnut orchard adjacent to Beckstoffer's well-known Crimson Ridge Vineyard in the Red Hills of Lake County. Both properties will be planted to Cabernet Sauvignon.
