Chile's Viña Ventisquero partners with The San Francisco Wine Exchange as US Importer

Date: 08/10/11

Premium Chilean wine producer Viña Ventisquero recently appointed The San Francisco Wine Exchange (SFWE) as its sole US importer effective immediately.

The move celebrates a milestone for both companies. For Viña Ventisquero, the partnership with SFWE marks the first time that its award-winning wines will be represented by an independent importer. For SFWE, the addition of Ventisquero adds a top-notch Chilean producer to its prestigious international product line-up that already includes wines from California, Washington, Spain, Argentina, and New Zealand.

San Francisco Wine Exchange National Sales Manager Phil Nugent states: “Our new partnership is a natural extension of the winery portfolio philosophy established by Hugh Thacher when he founded the company. Viña Ventisquero is family owned, focused on its appellation and produces high quality, award winning varietally correct wines that over deliver for the price. We’re very excited to be working with the VV team and to be able to promote the outstanding appellations of Chile”.

Viña Ventisquero’s North & South American Sales Director Juan Ignacio Zuñiga looks forward to the new collaboration: “San Francisco Wine Exchange will be an important long-term strategic partner in continuing the growth of both our companies in the US. As one of Chile’s top ten producers, it is important that we establish ties with what we consider to be one of the best American importers. We share SFWE’s enthusiasm and commitment to building the on-premise and premium market for terroir-driven, hand-crafted Chilean wines.”

The San Francisco Wine Exchange, founded in 1975 by Hugh Thacher, is America’s oldest independent national wine marketing agency. SFWE oversees a national network of regional sales personnel from its headquarters in San Francisco, California. The company’s clients are a diverse group of family owned wineries who are each stars in their respective appellations throughout California, Washington, New Zealand, Argentina and Spain.

Viña Ventisquero is a Chilean winery focused on the production of premium wines exclusively from sustainably-farmed estate-grown grapes. It has pioneered projects in partnership with iconic former Penfolds Grange winemaker John Duval, resulting in internationally-acclaimed wines such as Pangea, an ultra-premium Syrah. Ventisquero wines consistently earn excellent ratings from the world’s most respected wine publications, including Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, and Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
