General Contractors, Rogers & Pedersen Construction, gain recognition following Presqu'ile Winery

PRESS RELEASE

San Luis Obispo, CA – Tim Rogers and Doug Pedersen continue to gain momentum and recognition in the Central Coast construction industry on the heels of their landmark debut. Designed by the esteemed San Francisco firm, Taylor Lombardo Architects, the Presqu’ile Winery facility was shepherded through its design and construction phases by the management team of Tim Rogers & Doug Pedersen.

As a fourth generation building contractor, Doug Pedersen grew up in the industry and developed a foundation of ethics, drive, and general construction perspective. After ten years of leading construction projects in the San Francisco Bay Area and the San Joaquin Valley, Pedersen was asked to manage the construction of Presqu'ile Winery (www.presquilewine.com). Having graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Pedersen welcomed the opportunity to return to the Central Coast.

At the project onset, Pedersen connected with fellow Cal Poly Construction Management Alumni, Tim Rogers. Rogers, who has lived on the Central Coast for more than a decade, was hired as the project superintendent at Presqu’ile. Pedersen said, “In addition to managing the construction, the project owner looked to us to provide the overall guidance for the complicated project, which was no easy undertaking. After the completion of Presqu’ile, it was a natural progression for us to incorporate as Rogers & Pedersen Construction. At that point, we had already been working together for over four years and our complementary skill sets were apparent.”

The Rogers & Pedersen business model is based on the practice of active principal involvement. “This is what created and sustained my family’s business over the past 100 years, and will continue to define our business,” says Pedersen. Tim and I are intimately involved in every project.” Adds Rogers, “Our focus is not on how many projects we can build, but rather on the quality and level of service we provide the owners of the projects we build. We are dedicated to our client’s best interests and are on a constant quest for value and perfection.”

Presqu’ile owner, Madison Murphy, says, “My family and I have developed a truly unique relationship with Doug and Tim. It didn't have the typical owner/contractor feeling; instead, we felt like we were in a partnership, bringing our family’s vision to life. The partnership ended up developing into a friendship that I have no doubt will last for a lifetime.”

Pedersen, whose great grandfather founded R. Pedersen Construction in 1900, expressed “Wineries and estate homes are a good fit to our relative construction experience, location, and the client experience that we provide. Like the wine industry, we strive for a product that creates an experience for others, for years to come. Similar to our construction delivery, the wine industry isn't about creating the cheapest bottle of fermented grape juice, but rather creating one that provides proper structure, good value and an enjoyable experience that will be remembered and leave a lasting impression on the consumer.”

Following their success with the Presqu'ile project, Rogers & Pedersen indicated they are currently starting a vineyard estate home in the Santa Maria Valley and providing pre?-construction services for a winery in the Santa Ynez area. "We don't limit our capabilities specifically to commercial or residential construction, but rather look for an opportunity where we can provide value to a client with a unique vision,” says Rogers, adding, “The approval process for a project can be difficult on the Central Coast and owners often have a hard time gaining the traction necessary to move forward. We are here to aid and assist from concept to completion. We work to deliver the perception of simplicity through extensive organization, allowing our clients to enjoy the process of creation.”
