Deering Wine Brings Home High Honors

PRESS RELEASE

Deering Wine, owned by Todd and Blair Maus, is continuing to win awards. Bringing home a set of winners from the esteemed San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, they are pleased to reveal their Best of Class, Double Gold and Gold winners to the public, “I am so proud of my husband and the Deering Winemaking team!” says Blair Maus upon finding out that Deering was the recipient of this cherished award.

The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, which is held each January at the Cloverdale Citrus Fair in Cloverdale, California, is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious wine competition events held in the United States. Founder Bob Frazier, now joined by son Scott, are the hosts for the judging which boasts of being the largest competition of American wines. Deering has won several gold medals over the last four years of entering the SF Chronicle Wine Competition, but this is their first Best of Class from the Chronicle.

Todd and Blair Maus are very happy with the results, stating that they are, “…extraordinarily pleased to have this huge recognition, given the scope of the competition. We know we make great wine, but it is an honor to know that the judges think so as well.” Earning not only the high rank of Best of Class for their 2010 Sonoma Valley Zinfandel, they have also garnered a Double Gold medal for their 2010 “Ideal,” a Sonoma County blend (of 44 percent Syrah, 24 percent Petite Sirah, and 19 percent Zinfandel, 8 percent Malbec, 5 percent Cabernet), and a Gold medal on their 2010 Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley.

For over a hundred years, their family has been involved with a legacy of agriculture from the invention of the reaper to the founding of International Harvester. At Deering Wine, Blair and Todd carry on these traditions in their vineyards. Their vineyard property, purchased in 2004, was previously part of the historic Beltane Ranch in the mountainous inter-coastal Mayacamas region of Sonoma County.

Deering Wine will be attending the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Public Tasting, held at Ft. Mason, San Francisco on Feb. 15, 2014, and have been invited to participate in the VIP tasting for high award winners. Their website is www.deeringwine.com.
