DENVER, Colo. (September 13, 2013) – Colorado wineries have been making a name for themselves lately, and this year, seven of them took home medals from the 2013 Denver International Wine Competition (DIWC). The 9th annual DIWC took place Sept. 7-8 at the Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield, Colo. More than 750 wines were entered by winemakers from all over the world, and a total of 261 medals were awarded, including two “Best of Shows” and 11 Double Golds. Medal winners receive entry to the 9th annual Denver International Wine Festival (DIWF), a wine and food festival showcasing more than 400 international wines from 18 countries, in its new, more spacious location at the luxurious Omni Interlocken Resort, Nov. 6-10.
The seven award-winning Colorado wineries earning medals were Balistreri Vineyards, Boulder Creek Winery, Creekside Cellars, Graystone Winery, Talon Winery, Meadery of the Rockies and St Kathryn Cellars.
This year’s multi-day festival brings to Colorado exquisite food and wine, and several special events with stars from the world of food and wine, including a new Julia Child Tribute Champagne Luncheon, and promises to be the best one yet.
