Texas Hill Country Wineries was established in 1999 by a small group of wineries in the Texas Hill Country AVA, the second largest AVA in the country with 15,000 square miles from Austin to Rock Springs and San Saba to San Antonio. The mission of the association is to increase visitorship to the member wineries. This goal is achieved with four self-guided wine trails each year, the website (www.TexasWineTrail.com) and the annual printed brochure and map. New events and marketing initiatives are slated for 2013 in a continued effort to reach a bigger audience.
With the addition of a mobile website, engaging video and QR code, the association will appeal to tech-savy consumers and make visiting member wineries easier while on the road. New tasting events include four Kick-off Tastings throughout the year and two Barrel and Futures Tastings for spring and fall. The events target two types of consumers, the wine enthusiast with the Barrel Tastings and the explorer with the Kick-off Tastings.
