Mutineer Magazine Rallies Beverage Industry To Address Millennial Unemployment
Mutineer Magazine, one of the leaders in Millennial beverage media and marketing, announced today their 60-day Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to address the current unemployment crisis in the United States. “Drink Careers 101: How to Get a Job in the Beverage Industry” is an innovative and ambitious project aimed to introduce Millennials to employment opportunities within the beverage industry.
“Drink Careers 101” is an in-depth guide covering a long list of beverage professions related to wine, beer, spirits, coffee, tea and soda. Slated for release in fall of 2013, the guide will offer strategies and resources for securing employment and feature interviews with leading industry professionals.
Mutineer has brought together a project advisory board of over 100 beverage professionals representing the many career paths covered in the guide. The purpose of the advisory board is to guide, participate and champion this project from start to finish.
“1 in 2 new graduates are jobless or underemployed” - Yahoo News / April 2012
Millennials are currently facing an unemployment crisis. Burdened with large amounts of student debt, recent college graduates are finding it increasingly difficult to secure quality employment after leaving school. Beverage careers represent a largely overlooked employment solution for college graduates, and is one of only a few industries that has experienced consistent growth during the recent recession.
College undergraduates are largely unaware of beverage career opportunities. Unless you have a personal connection to the beverage industry, it is extremely difficult to be aware of beverage careers and academically prepare to compete for those opportunities, especially with many college undergraduates being under the legal drinking age when they begin their studies and select their major. Furthermore, the beverage industry, particularly the wine sector, is traditionally exclusive, making it inaccessible to women and minority students and creating another barrier for college students who might otherwise consider a beverage career. The Drink Careers 101 guide aims to change that.
“Like many beverage professionals, I was fortunate enough to fall into this industry by way of luck and chance. The beverage industry offers many compelling career opportunities for young graduates struggling in the job market, and the Drink Careers 101 guide will show them the way,” says Alan Kropf, President of Mutineer Magazine.
In the face of the growing need for jobs in the current economic climate, the guide will illuminate the diverse range of promising and available beverage career options. Because of its innovation, scope and level of detail, Drink Careers 101 is the first of its kind, and will become the ultimate resource for anyone considering a career in the beverage industry.
