PR: Trinchero Family Estates Announces the Launch of Echo Bay New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc

Date: 12/20/12

Trinchero Family Estates announced Wednesday that it will launch a new wine brand on Jan. 1, 2013. Echo Bay’s first vintage is a 2012 100% New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc with a Marlborough appellation and a suggested retail price of $12.99. Like the name and glistening label imply, Echo Bay evokes a calm and soothing experience with its crisp, cool taste which reflects the lifestyle of the consumer and New Zealand.

New Zealand began producing Sauvignon Blanc in the 1980’s, the varietal credited by many for putting New Zealand wines on the map. Sauvignon Blanc has been gaining increasing popularity in the US in the past five to ten years by offering consumers a fresh taste profile with exceptional quality and value. The New Zealand wine category is now up 24 percent over last year, with Sauvignon Blanc as the No. 1 varietal from New Zealand and sales up nearly 26 percent*.

Known for its pristine vineyards surrounded by jagged mountain peaks, brilliant blue skies, and crystal clear inlets, Marlborough’s sea breezes and a long, cool growing season allow the fruit to develop complexity and exceptional acidity. To preserve Echo Bay’s delicate fragrance and flavors, the grapes are gently cold-fermented in stainless steel, ensuring each glass is pure and fresh, with New Zealand’s classic pungent fragrance. Zesty citrus aromas lead to layers of passion fruit, grapefruit and gooseberry flavors, followed by a clean, refreshing finish. Echo Bay is beautiful on its own or paired with lighter fare.

The winemaker behind Echo Bay is New Zealand native, Nick Goldschmidt who has produced more than 100 wines which received 90 pts and above from the industry’s top wine ranking publications. Nick’s 20+ years of winemaking expertise has gone into world class wines from New Zealand, Australia, Chile, Argentina, Portugal, Mexico, Spain, Italy, and the leading wine regions in US.

“Consumers love the bright and vibrant style of Sauvignon Blanc, and New Zealand has that distinctive style that is difficult to find from other regions,” said Dave Derby, SVP of marketing for Trinchero Family Estates. “Echo Bay is pure New Zealand, and we feel that it will resonate with the wine drinker that is searching for a small indulgence that they can relax and enjoy with friends.”
