Chalone Vineyard announces the first commercial release in more than a decade of its popular Gavilan wine brand. The new Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, both from the superb 2012 vintage, are available at fine restaurants and wine shops around the country.
Following a warm, dry spring with near-ideal conditions for bringing grapes to maturity, the harvest was remarkably smooth; wineries are at capacity and working with some very high quality wine grapes, according to the California Wine Institute.
The names on the newly printed large map are legendary: Wender, Bourn, Heitz, Colgin, David Fulton, Titus, Wight, Beckstoffer, Hundred Acre. The map lists the 170 different vineyards in Appellation St. Helena.
