Description: A one-day conference on business development for wine-grape growers, producers, and cluster of related industry professionals.
Scheduled conference speakers include Mike Veseth, author and editor of The Wine Economist; James A. Wolpert, Viticulture Extension Specialist emeritus at University of California at Davis and 2013 Merit Award recipient from the American Society of Enology and Viticulture; Jeff Cohn, owner and manager of JC Cellars; Charles Humble, Director of Marketing and Sales for the Oregon Wine Board; Trent Ball, Program Chair and Instructor of Agriculture at Yakima Valley Community College.
Attendees from all parts of the Southern Oregon wine industry – growers, winery owners, winemakers, suppliers, vendors, distributors, retailers and others – will come together with economic development experts, educators, lenders, hospitality and culinary specialists, and professionals in real estate, law, accounting, marketing and other fields. The purpose is to share best business practices and to help stimulate the industry’s growth.
Afternoon brainstorming panels, moderated by conference speakers, will include industry representatives and will encourage audience participation. Topics will focus on winemaking and vineyard operations, plus expanded product marketing and sales.
The Oregon Wine Cluster Conference is sponsored by Pacific Power, Umpqua Bank, VESTA – Viticulture & Enology Science and Technology Alliance, LIVE – Low Input Viticulture & Enology, and the Southern Oregon Wineries Association World of Wine Festival.
The conference is limited to 150 participants and pre-registration is required. Fee for all sessions which includes coffee and pastries, lunch and hosted wine reception, is $60.
