Description: Intended for those individuals with no prior education or experience with finance and accounting principles, this short seminar will review some basic concepts as applied to the wine industry, and will prepare you to take the core seminars required for the Finance and Accounting Certificate. Topics reviewed will include financial statements, ratio analysis, time value of money, ownership structures, taxation basics, and cost accounting.

Toni Moheng serves as the Tax Senior Manager overseeing services delivered to BPM’s winery and vineyard land client engagements throughout the North Coast. With over 25 years of experience, Toni serves a diverse group of clients, with particular emphasis on taxation for closely-held businesses and their owners, high net worth individuals, estates, and fiduciaries. Her primary area of expertise is financial, tax planning, and compliance focusing on the winery and vineyard industry.

Steve Jannicelli has over 15 years of experience in both private industry and public accounting. Steve’s practice focuses on CFO services, including cash-flow forecast modeling, financial management and planning, operational assessments and profitability improvements, strategic planning, industry benchmark analysis, and inventory sensitivity analysis. He is a skilled strategist in providing guidance for ownership transition, strategic planning, growth and capital strategy, and financial advisory services for privately-held and family controlled businesses.



Michelle Ausburn has more than 11 years of experience in public accounting, most recently as a leader within Moss Adams’ Wine Industry Group. Her practice focuses on performing audits and reviews for wineries, vineyards, real estate entities, negociants, custom crush facilities, and wine and spirits distribution companies. Michelle’s area of expertise is GAAP compliant financial accounting and reporting for privately-held, middle market businesses. She has deep experience with business combination accounting, sale-leaseback transactions, inventory valuation, stock-based compensation, and has also assisted clients with the evaluation of internal control, software selection and conversion, and inventory costing.

Michelle is a past speaker at the Wine Industry Technology Symposium and Sonoma State University Extended Education Program. She sits on the planning committee for the CalCPA Society Central Coast Wine Industry Conference and is Treasurer for the Napa/Sonoma Chapter of W
