San Francisco, CA
Event Type: Charity Event,Trade Tasting/Fair
Description: “Romancing The Rhones: A Seductive Rhone Shootout,” will be held, Saturday, July 14th, at The Old Mint Building in San Francisco, a National Historic Landmark.

The public is invited to sample unique Rhone wines from California, Oregon and beyond at the Romancing the Rhones Grand Tasting, a walk around tasting featuring over 3 dozen Rhone-producing wineries, many of them very small and yet undiscovered. The tasting will take place in the Vaults of the Old Mint, where much of the nation’s currency was produced until World War II.

Attendees will have the opportunity to blind taste the top 40 finalists from the 2012 “Rhone Shootout,” where they can pit their palates against the experts and vote for their favorites, while enjoying food from local artisan vendors.
Join fellow Rhone enthusiasts for a limited seating “Rhone Romance” luncheon with three winemakers, including Collin Cranor from Nottingham Cellars and Michael Donovan from RoxyAnn, followed by Barrel Tasting, Blind Tasting of Rhone Shootout finalists, and the Grand Tasting and Awards Ceremony (Gold Bar Ticket, $85:11:30 til 4:30pm). Or choose Barrel Tasting and early access to Blind Tasting, as well as Grand Tasting and Awards Ceremony, with a Silver Dollar Ticket ($65: 12:30pm til 4:30pm).
