Established Northern Willamette Valley winery seeks experienced and ambitious winemaker. Responsible for all aspects of wine-making, record-keeping and compliance for 8,000 case production including estate wines and custom crush clients. Winemaker will work directly with owners to produce wines that express the terroir and potential of this extraordinary site. Limited travel, but active participation in marketing and communication with the trade, press, and consumers.
Requirements: BA/BS or higher, enology or chemistry degree preferred. 5 years experience producing Pinot Noir in a cool climate. Demonstrated leadership and training ability. Positive attitude and problem solving personality. Experience and knowledge of the rules and regulations governing wine production, including taxation, labeling rules, worker safety, food safety, alcohol service, and others. Experience with operation and routine maintenance of all wine-making equipment. Computer skills including winery record-keeping, Excel and Office. Budgeting and cost analysis experience a plus.
This is a hands-on position. Candidate should be prepared to work on their feet in wet, uncomfortable, and physically challenging conditions. Duties will include repeatedly lifting 40lbs.
