We are currently seeking an Assistant Wine Manager to join our team of professionals.
Ensure conformance of all store operations to all applicable laws and regulations
Maintain the training program to ensure all wine department staff are informed and knowledgeable of store products, and train staff in proper customer relations skills and sales techniques in an effort to maintain a high quality of service to the public
Administer established retail objectives for the store, including: customer service objectives, operating plans, advertising strategies, and store improvements
Conduct wine ordering, sets prices to assure a reasonable profit margin
Responsible for inventory and ordering of wine as well as creating all purchase orders for wine
Analysis of all wine purchase orders for cost accuracy and pricing eg. Contact salesman with certain questions on specific invoices
Coordination with distribution companies and liquor companies about pricing and sales strategies as well as product selections.
Regular inventory audits to determine products slated for inventory reductions or returns
Responsible for in-store merchandising such as layouts, promotions, and displays.
Responsible for stocking of merchandise in the wine area and maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of the sales floor
Provide customers with recommendations and offer other assistance as needed
Supervise and evaluate personnel within the wine department, including: employment recommendations to General Manager, performance evaluation, and employee suspension/discharge recommendations. Recording absent and tardy employees. Documenting any and all employee relations issues and conducting disciplinary actions when appropriate
Maintain wine basement organization and cleanliness
Prepare sales history and create projections for large wine purchases
Receiving of all wines
Creation and distribution of wine newsletters
Organizes wine tastings on the floor and in wine room
Perform all other related duties and responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.
Previous store management experience
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as you will interact with a variety of people, including fellow employees, customers, and vendors, on a daily basis
Excellent organizing and planning skills
Ability to multi task and pay attention to detail
Strong management skills
Must possess excellent customer service skills
