Intern Lab Technician
Valley of the Moon Winery is currently looking for a temporary, full time intern to work in the lab.
During the non-harvest season, the responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Pulling samples from tanks and barrels; winemaking trials; topping analyses (SO2, pH, and VA); bottling analyses (SO2, pH, TA, VA, RS, ML, and DO).
Once into harvest additional responsibilities will be:
Grape sample preparation and analysis; fermentation monitoring; acid-base and redox titrations; enzymatic spectrophotometer analysis; truck scale operation; data entry.
The position will also be responsible for making cellar additions (chemical, yeast, nutrients, etc.) to wines, juices and musts.
Requirements and working conditions for the position include:
Previous laboratory experience and/or college level studies in chemistry and microbiology preferred.
Must be in good physical condition to work outdoors in cool and hot temperatures.
Ability to communicate, carry out directives, and prioritize and manage time efficiently is a must.
Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and work at catwalk heights of 25 feet.
Must be able to work overtime and weekends during the harvest season (August through October)
Hours: Seasonal Full Time (plus overtime)
Duration: June through October 2014
