Assistant Winemaker/Cellar Master
Established Willamette Valley winery seeks experienced and ambitious assistant winemaker/cellar master. Responsible for all aspects of wine-making, in a 12,000 case production facility including estate wines and custom crush clients. Assistant winemaker will work directly with Winemaker to produce wines that express the varietal character of cool climate grapes.
Requirements: 3-5 year production experience. Demonstrated leadership and training ability. Positive attitude and problem solving personality. Applicants should have a strong work ethic, understand proper sanitation, can operate DE and plate and frame filters. Candidates should be able to operate a forklift with proficiency, operate pumps of various types, and be familiar with keeping documentation for TTB reporting. Lab work including running trials, SO2, ph, TA, sterility plating and more are necessary skills. Computer skills including winery record-keeping, Excel and Office.
Candidate should have experience with all winery equipment from crush to bottling.
Position will require applicant to work weekends and evenings during crush and overtime hours at various times of the year. Production experience in sparkling wine a plus.
This is a hands-on position. Candidate should be prepared to work on their feet in wet, uncomfortable, and physically challenging conditions. Duties will include repeatedly lifting 40lbs.
