Position Title: National Account Manager
Position Location: Northern California – Field (Home Based)
Position Summary: Plan, develop, communicate, sell, and implement national strategic initiatives and brand priorities in assigned National Accounts in close coordination with divisional sales & marketing teams and wholesaler distributor networks.
Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
Plan, develop, communicate, survey, sell-in and implement national initiatives and brand priorities for assigned accounts in concert with division marketing and sales teams, brand teams and the distributor. Negotiate all programs with National Account decision makers.
Leverage effective regionally and locally generated ideas in developing national level sales tactics.
Develop specific account level sales and marketing strategies in concert with marketing and the distributor, enabling tailored marketing plans for accounts.
Manage and Communicate national level plans, programs, and approvals directly to the distributor and PR teams to ensure follow-through at the outlet level.
Create account level execution and compliance metrics to track distributor and account performance. Create reports for Division Wine Director, National Accounts Wines & Champagnes. Share data with marketing groups to assist in brand planning process and enable evaluation of marketing programs.
Ensure locally generated pricing programs aligned with national accounts programming and objectives.
Review account performance and report risks and opportunities, with recommended actions on a regular basis to line manager and key stakeholders.
Nature & Scope:
Position typically works with the Divisional Wine Directors, State Managers, Marketing, Distributor National Account teams and Local Account Managers. Contacts also include brokers and PR USA vendor providers. Incumbent plans activities for this position monthly, with individual initiative in daily routine. Decisions have national impact and can significantly affect the performance and profitability of Pernod Ricard USA.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience/Background: A minimum of 5-7 plus years of proven success in sales serving a large number of diverse retailers; ideally, experience with direct key account or channel responsibility.
Must live in Northern California with close proximity to Safeway corporate office.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical field environment, with moderate demands for movement and lifting. Frequent travel to customer sites is required.
