The Napa Valley Grapegrowers is hosting a Farmworker Field Day—free Admission for Napa County Farmworkers & NVG Members—on Aug. 2 at Bettinelli Vineyard (5430 Trubody Lane, Napa 94558). The Spanish Session is from 7 a.m. – 9 a.m. and the English Session is from 10 a.m – 12 p.m. Speakers include Paul Goldberg of Bettinelli Vineyard and Enrique Herrero of Inglenook.

Paul Goldberg, Bettinelli Vineyards, and Enrique Herrero, Inglenook, will start the day with a lecture on the importance of canopy management and how it relates to optimum grape quality. They will discuss steps to achieve vine balance, leaf removal for sunlight exposure and disease mitigation, and trellis systems and row direction considerations. They will then tour a diverse vineyard in the Oak Knoll District to exemplify some of the points discussed in the lecture. The day will end with a short wine tasting that will demonstrate wine characteristics derived from different canopy management techniques.
