San Francisco-based Passaggio Wines announced the launch of Unmarked, a new, small-production, super-premium wine brand intended to celebrate the women and men who have dedicated their lives to law enforcement. Winemaker Cindy Cosco, herself a former law enforcement officer with 15 years of service, will donate 5 percent of the price of each bottle to charities benefitting the families of fallen law enforcement officers.
Passaggio’s first Unmarked offering is a 2011, single-vineyard Napa Valley Pinot Noir dubbed “Code Seven” – police jargon for “officer on meal break.” It is made with grapes sourced from the Fagan Creek vineyard on the cusp of the Carneros winegrowing region. The wine sells for $45, and 75 cases were produced.
Cosco said:
“I think we owe a debt of gratitude to those who have given their lives in the line of duty, and I wanted to do my part to help repay that debt.”
