Winery Job Postings Surge in May
Postings Up 49 Percent from May 2011

Job postings by wineries in May 2012 increased 49 percent from May 2011, according to our winejobs.com index.  As the wine industry’s leading online job site, winejobs.com has a unique vantage point over industry trends. The May 2012 number also was 77 percent higher than the index for May 2010.

The May 2012 increase in job postings was driven by big jumps in hospitality and winemaking jobs. Hospitality jobs jumped 112 percent from their level in May 2011 and were 83 percent above their level in May 2010.

The winemaking job index jumped 78 percent above its level in May 2011, and is 130 percent above its level in May 2010. Driving the increase in winemaking jobs was an increase in harvest help positions. Harvest help listings increased by 83 percent over their level in May 2011, and were 93 percent higher than their level in May 2010.

The sales and marketing index increased 10 percent from its level in May 2011. The index is 14 percent above its level in May 2010.
