"What role do we have in educating these new generations?" Jake Lorenzo asks in his May Wine Business Monthly column, "Staying Connected."
"I think it’s up to us to remind them that wine is about disconnecting. It is about relating directly to other people. When young people come to our house, Jakelyn’s mother and I request that they don’t take photos of the food, or of us for that matter. If they are willing to turn off their cell phones, we’ll let them into the cellar to pick any bottle of wine they like. As we drink that bottle with them, we’ll talk, and it is rarely about the wine. We have found that young people love wine and conversation, but it is often a new experience; one they will, no doubt tweet about at a later date."
